STEP 1: Investigate: If you feel like something is smelling wrong, don’t ignore it. Immediately search that place and without wasting any time start the cleaning. This will avoid the stain and the smell from getting stubborn and concentrated into that particular area of your carpet.
STEP 2: Immediate Clean Up. Use paper towels or some old newspapers to dry out the affected area immediately. Use as many of these papers as possible to speed up the drying process.
STEP 3: Neutralize. If possible, use a detergent solution and start cleaning the area with a cleaning cloth soaked into that solution. Press it hard enough so that detergent can clean up all the bad smelling stuff from deep inside your carpet.
STEP 4: Rinse. I prefer using cold water for rinsing off the detergent from the area. Don’t use too much water as that will worsen the odor and the stain. Pat the area absolutely dry to avoid the growth of insects in that area.
STEP 5: Close Off The Area. Make sure you clean it thoroughly and make it so that your pet cannot visit it daily for the same purpose. It’s always good to retrain your pet regarding this issue beforehand. If you want to keep your carpet free from odors and stains for long, get professional training for your pet so that it knows well not to misbehave while inside the house.
These were some of the simplest ways to consider if you really want your carpet to be as new and fresh as when you bought it from the market. Just some extra care and vigilance is required to get it all done well.
Obviously it is ideal to avoid these situations by keeping an eye on your pet or better yet, train your dogs or cats to go to bathroom in designated areas. But if it is not trained yet, be extra careful while your pet is roaming around on your carpet.
We all love to keep pets around in the house, especially if you have kids who are quick to adopt a pet into the family. But if you keep on cleaning your pet’s urine area again and again your the carpet will not restored to its original condition. But you can very effectively keep these stains and odors away from your carpet if you know exactly what to use for this purpose and how to use it in the best possible way.
